I put an ounce or so of the actual ester concentrate in my transmission oil since the seals had been on the shelf for an unknown number of years and it stopped leaking. It will stop leaks in power steering, transmissions, or anywhere else, in the right concentrate. It sounds like maybe for automatics? The msds does not show solvents or group V esters, so that would leave aromatics to soften seals and clean crud off of parts (synchronizers).Ī good automatic transmission conditioner/sealer will have esters of some formulation to go straight to the cleaning and softening of the seals.

Use also in light-duty manual transmissions to ease shifting and prolong transmission life. Use in any transmission for preventative maintenance. Lucas Transmission Fix stops slip, hesitation, and hard shifting in worn transmissions and totally eliminates most seal leaks. of running and turning the steering wheel, it was just as it should be! It was astounding! And the steering remained fine until the car quit for good about 4 years later!įirst time I've ever had such luck with a "cure-all" but I've also since used some treatment to get rid of leaks in an old automatic transmission.ĭan Davis ~ Pierce County, WA ~ CORSA Western Director + Corvairs NW + North Cascades Corvairs + Corvanaticsġ966 Corsa Turbo coupe ~ ~ 1966 Corsa 140 Coupe ~ ~ 1965 Monza 140/4 Convertible Sierra Tan/Fawn ~ 1964 Monza Spyder Convertible ~ 1960 Monza Ermine White/Red PG ++ ~ 1965 Monza 140/4 CoupeEvening Orchid w/ ivory/black interior ~ 1962 Monza Wagon 102/4 ~ 1963 Rampside/Scamper ~ 1963 Red/Greenbrier ~ 1969 Ultra Van #468 I siphoned off the PS fluid I could get out of the reservoir and put in about 8 ounces of Lucas Power Steering fluid Treatment. It took 2 men and a Boy Scout just to turn the steering wheel! The rack was in sad shape, the fluid was metallic. It was mostly eaten up with Wisconsin rust, but it ran and would go down the road.
Ron Thompson gave me his old Pontiac 6000 wagon. Also, this stuff is REALLY hard to clean out of nooks and crannies when it gets knocked over, so watch out!
Was hoping the product would fix the leaky seals, but it didn't. There must have been a lot of leaking past the seals already, because it turned into a gusher immediately. I used their power steering stop leak and it did not stop the leak enough to keep driving the car. The shift kit increases line pressure so the clutch packs don't drag persay before fully engaging.I used it in a leaking T350 and it stopped the leak. Its gonna wear the **** out of your pads. The trango shift kit is recommended because the reason these cars tend to wear clutch packs and start to slip is because picture riding your brakes oh so slightly while also pressing the throttle driving down the road and then finally applying the brakes fully and letting your foot off the throttle. With only 123k your only chance at saving that trans is to drop pan and change filter/fluid. It is however recommended to do a filter/fluid change and keep the fluid that is in the torque converter( aka not flushing) Running dex 6 is not recommended on a old trans because it is thinner, granted it is better in every other way(by %200) should def be used on a new or rebuilt trans. Think of a brake pad with no pad material left.
It is not recommended to FLUSH a trans that has not been flushed every 50k on original fluid because all the clutch pack material is what is keeping the clutch packs engaging. the fluid is contaminated by now and the filter is clogged hence the slipping. The car is on original fluid and original filter. I'm going to try to make this very simple for you. The fluid I took out was almost black hahahaha. Car drives and shifts through all the gears, but the shift is a bit delayed now, and I expected that because it is literally running a gel through it right now so all is good. I ended up sucking out about enough to fill up half a bottle of pepsi (bout 10 or 12fl oz) and added maybe half the bottle of the fix fluid. But when it has never had a fluid change in its life, new fluid will destroy the seals and other stuff in the transmission, making more problems.
